As the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) introduce changes to accounting standards, the CACUBO Higher Education Accounting Workshop keeps you up-to-date on the latest requirements. We also offer time for participants to discuss the issues they’re facing and practical ways to implement new standards.

2018 Higher Education Accounting Workshop
Join us in Omaha, Nebraska, at the brand new Omaha Marriott Downtown Hotel in the Capitol District for our Higher Education Accounting Workshop. The live event is geared for all knowledge levels and has no prerequisite requirements. Participants may be eligible to earn up to 17 hours of CPE credits by attending this workshop.
The CACUBO program features both GASB and FASB tracks for both state and private institutions. The tracks are designed to give participants an overview of college and university accounting concepts, as well as, a synopsis of the basic formats used by higher education institutions when presenting their financial statements. The featured concurrent tracks will also delve into the recent changes by GASB and FASB to accounting standards and the anticipated effects of those changes within the higher education industry. Attendees will be encouraged to discuss current relevant issues related to the practical implementation of the standards concerning financial accounting and reporting for colleges and universities.
In addition to the featured tracks, participants will have a choice of a half day of additional GASB content or a half day workshop on Key Performance Measures using their own institution’s financial statements. Also, back by popular demand for 2018, will be the expanded afternoon “Hot Topic” sessions. These sessions will encompass the topics of Endowments, Financial Modeling, Overall Higher Ed Issues, and Fraud/Cybersecurity.
Altogether, this program offers a great opportunity to gain an overview of current college and university accounting concepts, understand recent changes to accounting standards, and choose two hot topic sessions that are the most relevant to you and your institution.
